From May 10th to 13th, we were present at the Lamiera Fair

Here are the numbers from the international event dedicated to the machine tool industry for sheet metal forming and innovative technologies:

19,000 entries from professional operators. Additionally, there were 4,000 visitors from Made in Steel.
The results collected from the 22nd edition of Lamiera, the international exhibition dedicated to cutting, forming, and processing technologies for sheet metal, tubes, and profiles, were decidedly positive. The event took place from Wednesday, May 10th, to Saturday, May 13th, at Fiera Milano Rho.

As the only exhibition in Italy exclusively dedicated to the sector, Lamiera has become one of the most relevant trade fairs in the international scene of sector events over the years, thanks also to its move from Bologna to Milan in 2017. The exhibition, which covered a total area of 40,000 square meters, featured approximately 400 companies, 27% of which were foreign, representing 22 countries.

Promoted by UCIMU, the Italian machine tool, robot, and automation manufacturers’ association, and organized by CEU-CENTRO ESPOSIZIONI UCIMU, Lamiera returned, exceptionally, one year after the previous edition, which had been postponed by 12 months due to the health emergency.

To restore its traditional positioning in odd years, the event did not adhere to its traditional biennial schedule. However, the results collected, both in terms of exhibitors and visitors, were more than satisfactory.

Barbara Colombo, president of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, commented, “We are very satisfied with the results achieved because the event, held just 12 months after the previous one, not only confirmed the results of the last edition but, for some indicators, performed even better.”

Alfredo Mariotti, director of UCIMU, added, “The technology that characterizes this sector has a biennial innovation cycle, so Lamiera, like all other international trade shows dedicated to the sector, must be biennial. The fact that companies confirmed their participation in this edition, which was unusual in terms of timing, demonstrates the value of this event, which has continued to grow edition after edition and can count on a highly interesting market, the Italian one, the second most important in the world, alongside the United States, and the first in Europe.”

The entries of professional operators registered over the 4-day fair amounted to approximately 19,000. In the total count, over 4,000 operators from Made in Steel were also included, who showed interest in visiting Lamiera as well. The agreement signed with Made in Steel (which partially overlapped in the adjacent pavilions) allowing free passage between the two events yielded very interesting results.

“Very interesting contacts… excellent fair… we didn’t expect such a large influx of visitors… brilliant and somewhat unexpected result given that the event took place one year after the previous edition… we also received unexpected orders… high-quality audience, very interesting and qualified foreign delegations…” These are some of the comments gathered at the exhibitors’ stands, which resulted in a 15% increase compared to the 2022 edition.

In terms of total visitors, 7.5% came from abroad, representing 67 countries. The largest delegations came from Albania, Austria, China, Croatia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, and Hungary.

In the corridors of the two fair pavilions, 13 and 15, among the many visitors were also around fifty foreign operators from Egypt, India, Morocco, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Turkey, the USA, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam, invited as part of the traditional incoming initiative organized by UCIMU in collaboration with MAECI and ICE-Agenzia, along with an autonomous delegation of over 30 Turkish users from the Manisa area. ICE-Agenzia also managed the creation of the area dedicated to Start-ups.

To enrich the exhibition proposal, there was a program of about 40 events, proposed by LAMIALAMIERA, the arena promoted by FONDAZIONE UCIMU and realized with the contribution of Regione Lombardia. Digitalization and sustainability were among the most discussed topics during the conferences organized by the event organizers and exhibitors.

800 operators participated in the events hosted by the LAMIALAMIERA Arena, in addition to the 3,500 who connected remotely via live streaming throughout the period.

The event saw the presence of about a hundred journalists and around a thousand students who, invited as part of the UCIMU Academy initiative, participated, accompanied by their professors, in free visits guided by association tutors engaged in illustrating the latest generation technologies representing the international production sector.

The manufacturing world’s interest in the event is also measured by the lively activity on digital channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube). Lamiera’s social community now has 7,680 registered followers.
